One Nation was born in a bold move when they debuted at the 2006 Native American Music Awards in Hollywood, Florida, where Arvel Bird took home the 2006 NAMA for Best Instrumental. One Nation's music reflects their multi-cultural background - Native American, Scottish, Greek and Irish.
Arvel Bird (Lord of the Strings) - Voted "Best Native American Male Performer" by members of PowWows.com. Four months after winning the 2006 Nammy, Arvel won the 2006 Indian Summer Music Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental, adding to his numerous other awards, including four Indiana State Fiddle Championships, Indian Summer Fiddle Champion and too many others to mention.
In the 80s and 90s, Arvel toured with Glen Campbell, Clay Walker, Louise Mandrell, Tom T. Hall, Ray Price, Loretta Lynn and others. Arvel has also shared the stage with other big names in mainstream music such as the Gatlin Brothers, Shenandoah, and Highway 101; and in Native American music including R. Carlos Nakai, Jim Boyd, Bill Miller, Robert Tree Cody and Micki Free.
When not fronting One Nation, Arvel Bird is individually the hottest and best-known Native American recording artist on tour today.
Keyboardist, songwriter, and singer Chris James, collaborated with Arvel on his two top selling CDs, Animal Totems and Animal Totems 2, and has had songs cut by numerous top recording artists.
This talented performer has shared the stage with a number of entertainers such as Bobby Bare, The Rascals 1988 Reunion Tour, Walter Egan, Al Perkins, the Brooklyn Cowboys, Supe Granda of The Ozark Mountain Daredevils and is mentioned in the biography of Gram Parsons, and performs one of the most memorable impersonations of Jim Morrison ever given. Chris also performed with Bill Lloyd's "Long Players", a play on the vinyl term "LP", who performs a different classic rock album every show. When not on stage or in the studio, Chris is also editor of the most popular music scene magazine in Nashville, called "Shake".
John LoneEagle, known to his friends and fans as Eagle, is the traditional drummer and percussionist for the group. His Chiricahua Apache and Cherokee heritage is the foundation for his love of the pow wow drum. Before joining One Nation, Eagle was a member of a family Native American music group.
Eagle is a graduate of Baylor University and a sought-after speaker and presenter. He is a role model to youth regarding the culture and traditions of Native American people. Eagle resides in Tennessee where he owns Native American Legacy, a store selling authentic handcrafted Native American items. He also owns his own line of products at www.loneeagleproducts.com.
Vlasis, who hails from the city of Minneapolis, started his musical career in 1979 when he wrote and recorded the first of his original songs. The son of Greek immigrants, Vlasis is an accomplished musician; his guitar work is electric even when unplugged. Vlasis has performed in front of thousands of fans all over the country as a solo act as well as the lead guitarist for the art-rock group Blue Canoe and as a member of a family Native American band.
Vlasis has released two CDs, "White Dog" and "Plain Sight". The next chapter in his career should prove to be his best as the lead guitarist for the powerful Native rock group, One Nation, while expanding his career as a solo artist.
