Chase Monchamp aka Chase Manhattan, with roots in Inger, MN and ties to the Twin Cities music scene has been breaking into the field with the releases of CD’s. His first CD, un-named, was produced at the Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) in Mpls and his second CD, a 15 song demo Redskin in a Black and White World dropped in January 2008; his third CD, Backside released in January 2009 and this year Tribal Tribulations.

Biography

Chase Monchamp aka Chase Manhattan, with roots in Inger, MN and ties to the Twin Cities music scene has been breaking into the field with the releases of CD’s. His first CD, un-named, was produced at the Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) in Mpls and his second CD, a 15 song demo Redskin in a Black and White World dropped in January 2008; his third CD, Backside released in January 2009 and this year Tribal Tribulations.

Chase has performed extensively throughout Indian country to include but not limited to; Seattle, WA; Seneca Nation, New York; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Denver March Pow Wow; Des Moines, IA; Red Earth Pow Wow, OKC; Gathering of Nations, Albuquerque, Gallup, Farmington (B-Lounge, Gators, & Big City), Shiprock and Santa Fe, NM; along with all Pow Wows in his home state of Minnesota. Chase’s work on the Backside has been nominated for Best Hip Hop Rap Album in the 2009 North American Indigenous Image Awards hosted by the Isleta Casino and Resort, Isleta Pueblo, NM. His work on the Backside was also nominated for Best Rap Hip Hop Recording, at the 2009 Eleventh Annual Native American Music Awards at the Seneca Hotel & Casino, Niagara Falls, New York. Locally, Chase has participated in Scribble Jam at First Avenue in Mpls, and does weekly shows at Arnellia’s club in St. Paul, MN. Scribble Jam at First Avenue in Mpls, MN, along with shows at Shakopee, MN Pow Wow, Bar Fly, Mpls, MN., University of Minnesota, Mpls., Sound Bar, Mpls, MN., Gaststoff, Mpls, MN. and Ansari’s Lounge, Eagan, MN.

Chase has been actively writing and producing music since 2005 in collaboration with Nates Beats in Minneapolis Minnesota, SO Col, East St Louis, Missouri along with projects with Farmington‘s Finest in Farmington New Mexico and producer Gentle GZ.

Chase attended the Institute of American Indian Art, Santa Fe, New Mexico and attributes his flavor and style to his American Indian influences, the Great Leech Lake Nation and the Creek Nation
