Corny Michelle was born at a in Flin Flon, Manitoba, he was raised in the Northern Saskatchewan community of Pelican Narrows. Corny’s father Napoleon played keyboard in the local church choir. So Corny had access to his keyboard at home, listening to his dad play reels and jigs. Corny was inspired to play on his own and develop a unique Northen style of composition.

Darrell McCallum is from the Pelican Narrows First Nation for North East Saskatchewan. This community has a long history of music in the culture, Darrell began playing music at young age with other young adults from the community. In summer and there was time away from school, so the kids got together and played music. He got good enough that he could play in the local church group. Many of his friends followed suit and were part of the local church group.

Biography

CORN Corny Michelle was born at a in Flin Flon, Manitoba, he was raised in the Northern Saskatchewan community of Pelican Narrows. Corny’s father Napoleon played keyboard in the local church choir. So Corny had access to his keyboard at home, listening to his dad play reels and jigs. Corny was inspired to play on his own and develop a unique Northen style of composition. Corny bought fiddle tapes at the local store and learned to play many of the favorites of the time. His grandfather Joe Custer taught him the basics of tuning and playing and influenced him with the Northern Style of fiddling. Learning songs by Reg Bouvette and Andy Dejarlais. Corny was on his way to performing at the local dances and communities gathering. His friends Graham Linklater and Darrell Boots McCullum got together once in awhile to jam and continued to learn from one another. Corny would like to thank the Creator who has given him the gift of Music to be shared with all. I would like to dedicate this work to the memory of my mom “Clara” without her encouragement I would have not made it this far. With release of his first album entitled “ Medicine Rapids”, Corny is happy to be nominated at the 2002 Native American Music Awards in the category of Best Instrumental . Nominated in 2002 at the Canadian Aboriginal Music awards for best Single” Medicine Rapids” Nominated for Best Fiddle Album “Northern Fiddle” 2006 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards

BOOTS Darrell McCallum is from the Pelican Narrows First Nation for North East Saskatchewan. This community has a long history of music in the culture, Darrell began playing music at young age with other young adults from the community. In summer and there was time away from school, so the kids got together and played music. He got good enough that he could play in the local church group. Many of his friends followed suit and were part of the local church group. This would lead to many gospel Albums by Darrel l McCallum. He also formed the country / rock band called Rez Boyz. This name came as a result of the local Non Aboriginal calling the Rez Boyz whenever they attended local function. Darrell was teacher in Pelican Narrows for years and is now the Chief in his second term. With his heavy work load he still does music for his many fans that have come to love his music Darrell began playing music in the local church as a boy in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. Soon his friend wanted to join him in the church group, since there was nothing else to do in a small northern town. Darrell and friend became proficient musician as a result. He played in the band called Hard Country, which release a album in 1988 and became a favourite in Northern Saskatchewan. He formed the band Rez Boyz in the mid 90's and tour throughout the north. As a result of his gospel background it will always be a love for him.
