Biography
Darrell McCallum is from the Pelican Narrows First Nation for North East Saskatchewan. This community has a long history of music in the culture. Darrell began playing music at young age with other young adults from the community. In summer there was time away from school, so the kids got together and played music. He was good enough that he could play in the local church group. Many of his friends followed suit and were part of the local church group.
This would lead to many gospel Albums by Darrel l McCallum. He also formed the country / rock band called Rez Boyz. This name came as a result of the local Non Aboriginal calling the Rez Boyz whenever they attended local function.
Darrell was teacher in Pelican Narrows for years and is now the Chief in his second term. With his heavy work load he still does music for his many fans that have come to love his music Darrell began playing music in the local church as a boy in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. Soon his friend wanted to join him in the church group, since there was nothing else to do in a small northern town. Darrell and his friend became proficient musicians as a result. He played in the band called Hard Country, which release a album in 1988 and became a favourite in Northern Saskatchewan. He form the band Rez Boyz in the mid 90's and tour throughout the north. As a result of his gospel background it will always be a love for him.
