Biography
Darrelyne Bickel is a country singer-songwriter hailing from The Pas, Manitoba, Canada.
Since connecting with producer/songwriter Arun Chaturvedi and the CBG Artist Development Team (responsible for Chantal Kreviazuk, McMaster & James and Kyle Riabko), she has written and recorded an album entitled M.I.A. The disc includes "Eddie's Got a Mustang," which hit #1 on the National Aboriginal Top 30 Countdown.
"We wrote "Eddie's Got a Mustang" about the pressures of living in a small town. Living in The Pas has its pros and cons," explains Darrelyne. "On one hand, I love the people, my family and friends, and the land... but on the other I feel like I need to break free, and make a name for myself in the rest of the world."
Insightful thoughts for a 15 year old, albeit merit student, currently completing her high school diploma.
"I clearly recall the first time I saw and heard Darrelyne." says her producer/co-writer/manager Arun Chaturvedi. "I was performing a show in The Pas with Little Hawk, and there was this small girl with a big guitar, and an even bigger voice singing Pink Floyd and Leonard Skynard songs. I think she was 12 or something at the time. It was surreal! One year later I had her in the studio working on a record."
Darrelyne has performed at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg during the 2008 Manito Ahbee Festival. "Nowhere Next to Nothing" was a finalist in the Winnipeg Free Press' "My City, My Song" contest and "Eddie's Got a Mustang"
