Biography

DLO was the brain child of Deon Lowe; he wanted a band that could help make his songs come alive. The band originally started out in two thousand and three as the River Gypsies. The River Gypsies were able to play at Jammin in the Jackpine in 2003 and 2004. The River Gypsies (with the help of the community of Sapatoweyak Cree Nation) released their first single Honky Tonkin Cougar Women (written by Deon Lowe) to NCI in October 2004. Honky Tonkin Cougar Women made it to the top ten on the Aboriginal top thirty count down. Due to the busy schedules of some band members The River Gypsies went there separate ways. With the dismemberment of The River Gypsies DLO emerged. DLO's members include, rhythm guitar and lead vocals Deon Lowe, Lead Guitar and back up vocals Gary Wenger, Drums David Veitch and on Bass Guitar and back up vocals Junior Lathlin.

Deon records his songs with Martin Klatt, who is the producing genius behind the music. Deon brings in the acoustic version of a song he has written to Martin; together they add in the extras, and a masterpiece is born. Deon recruited "Dynamite" Dave Veitch for live performances. DLO is looking forward to working with Dave in the recording studio, as Deon is currently writing songs for the band's second album. The original lead guitar player Joe Lathlin recorded two songs on the Northern Hillbilly CD. Joe left the band in November 2007 for personal reasons. Gary Wenger has been the lead guitar player since the Joe's departure.

DLO has made quite a name for them selves in the North. The band resides in The Pas, Manitoba. DLO plays at local establishments at least once a month. The band performs annually at the Jamming in the Jackpine music festival. The band has traveled to Flin Flon, Swan River, Creighton, Winnipeg, Brandon and soon to Snow Lake. DLO has opened up for bands such as Trooper, The Stampeders, Helix and Prism.
