Biography

Jonathan Maracle is Mohawk from Tyendinaga Territory, Ontario (CANADA), where he resides with his wife Linda and 4 children, Tammy, David Akweks, Jesse Owera and Noelle Otsishera.

He currently travels full time across North America with his First Nations band Broken Walls", playing his Mohawk wind flute(s), guitar, Native drum and singing. Their mission is to bring healing and dignity to Native People, and to create beautiful music that can be used to honor & worship the Creator.

In addition to playing with "Broken Walls", Jonathan plays flute for "Ohwihsha", which recently received a highly favorable review for their debut album "Healing Wind" in the Native American magazine "Whispering Winds" of Los Angeles, California.

Jonathan has travelled extensively around the world performing in many different countries such as Australia, Costa Rica, China, Peru, Switzerland, Germany, France, Ireland, Mexico, and Israel, with "Broken Walls", "Ohwihsha", and as a solo artist. He has also represented Native Canada at the "International Festival of the Arts" in Kunming, China and at the "Worlds Fair" in Hanover, Germany.

Jonathan plays "Eaglewind" flutes which he proudly handcrafts, alongside his sons, on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory from locally harvested cedar.

Jonathan's debut solo CD project "Christmas on Turtle Island" is an instrumental journey on the Mohawk Wind Flute. This CD features a mixture of classic Christmas favourites with an indigenous flavour, and introducing a brand new song, written by Jonathan, entitled "The Hard Road".
