Lakota Jonez was born Morningstar Diablo in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was the beginning of a life that would go through many challenges and hardships eventually bringing Lakota Jonez into the light. Lakotas family life was in a broken home, filled with drugs and violence. Her life was all but typical as she moved around the United States yearly due to her fathers career. The constant moving and abuse she endured on a regular basis caused Lakota to look within for personal strength. She looked towards the artistic expression such as stories and artwork as an outlet. After high school Lakota left home turning to the streets and hustling, which at the time was a natural progression in her family. Being in the streets and what influences were Lakota provided found a comfort in Hip Hop and began to experiment with writing rhymes about her life and her many life experiences already endured at such a young age.

Finally becoming responsible for more than just her self Lakota decided she needed to make some changes and become someone that the youth could look up to for positive growth. Lakota came out publicly with her rhymes and was supported by family and friends to follow her dreams. Since coming out of herself built closet is to booth in 2005 Lakota has taken part in Building Healthy Relationships a project for youth with the Ottawa police, released two mixed tapes and just released her debut solo album Beautiful. Along with other accomplishments both personally and professionally, including co writing songs with Canadian Juno Award winner Derek Miller and recording many astounding talents.

Lakotas goals have extended from being the first main stream native hip hop female lyricist to being all that and a role model for todays youth, proving you can achieve your hearts desires.
