Biography
Nathan Cunningham was born in Prince George, British Columbia. He was raised in the small northern community of Sucker Creek First Nation near High Prairie, Alberta.
His love of country music stems from an upbringing where country music was, and still is, a way of life. The stories that it tells - the heartbreaks, the honky-tonks, and the strength and importance of family and down-to-earth values.
Nathan has been a mainstay on northern Alberta radio (CFWE-FM) for many years. He's also performed for audiences in the region at various events and fundraisers over the years. After a lengthy break from music, he decided it was finally time to chase his lifelong dream of becoming a professional musician.
And so, he's embarked on a journey which is already showing great promise. He's begun production on his long-awaited solo release at Edmonton's Octavo Productions via his new-found label Big Boy Music. His first single “Tie One On” continues to surprise and please listeners across Canada as it races up the charts (National Aboriginal Top 40 Countdown).
It was all a matter of timing for Nathan's project. All the pieces began to fall into place once he came up with the song "Saturday Night Angel" featuring friends Bryan Kootenay (Kootenay MC) and Darren Brule (Ill Logikal - Reddnation). Albeit a hip-hop song, it had Nathan's signature country vocal "twang" and immediately become a regional hit in Edmonton and back home in Sucker Creek, AB. Followed by that success, the three created a group called "Smashville" and from there Nathan became more and more involved in music once again.
And now, Nathan has a very bright future in country music awaiting him, and he invites every one of you to join him on his journey to success.
