Biography
Since releasing his debut album, Groundwater, in 2007, Ry has been recognized across the country as a unique Canadian voice and songwriter. But his talent doesn’t stop there.
An entrepreneur, business owner, event planner and Aboriginal language advocate, Moran wears many hats, the combination of which has garnered him significant media attention and awards including a National Aboriginal Role Model Award in 2008 and a First Tracks Music Video Award in 2009.
Ry has established himself as a leader in the Canadian Aboriginal community, creating ties with top political and business leaders within Canada. Ry has composed and produced musical scores for television and film productions like the internationally distributed documentary Petals, the award winning Digging Water documentary, and two seasons of original music for the nationally broadcast Tiga Talk television program. He’s been involved in almost every awards ceremony in Canada, including the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, National Aboriginal Role Model Awards and Aboriginal Tourism BC Awards.
Ry lives in Winnipeg, MB with his wife, Amy, and their beautiful baby girl, Piper. He is an MBA candidate at the University of Victoria.
