< >Wambdi Chante Hanska
Wambdi Chante, whose name means "Eagle Heart" in Dakota, resides on the Birdtail Sioux First Nation where she attends grade 8. She is one of a family of 10. She began singing when she was 3 and carried on from there. Her parents noticed this and bought for her a karaoke system four years ago, which made her hone in on her Creator given talent. In her spare time she can be found in her room belting out songs from Terry Clarke, Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain and many of the golden oldies. She also sings a round dance song when asked upon. She has been asked by other communities to sing and has competed in 2 talent shows, in which she has taken first and second. Wambdi Chante also competes in pow-wows as a dancer. She was also asked to represent the Youth in the "Day of Inspiration" held in Brandon, June 2008. Wambdi Chante also believes very highly in her Traditional values and beliefs. Today Wambdi Chante is here to compete because her First Nation Chief and Council believe in their youth and believe in Wambdi Chante, as does her Family and Friends.
