“Meewasin Oma” (It’s Good), she strongly affirms her belief and faith of the “Holy Medicine”. Peyote has and continues to be used by Victoria Benson and family for the past six generations. She verbalizes her relationship to George Lightfoot, the founder of peyote ceremonies in Canada, to be her grandfather. Victoria doesn’t show her age of 79 years, she is still physically dependant and spiritually vibrant, with no hesitation, she gets up from her chair to make tea. The interview takes place in her home of many years, an Indian Affairs house; visibly the house has seen some make over and renovations over the years. Victoria is widow for some years now; she continues to reside on Red Pheasant Reserve in Saskatchewan. She lives with a son, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren, which she raised herself.
