Eastern Eagle are a Mi’kmaq powwow group out of Nova Scotia who have grown, evolved and transformed over the 20 years that they have been in existence. They started out with the help of George Paul who arrived at the school of Indian Brook, shared some songs, found interest and with the help of Mike Doucet taught more songs to a select enthusiastic few throughout the winter... From there they sat in with Free Spirit from Cape Breton, singing and drumming and learning songs from cassette tapes of groups all over North America. Back home, they became Eastern Eagle!
2014 Year of Music is a provincial initiative that celebrates the spirit of music in Manitoba – uniting musicians, the music industry, festivals, events, and fans who put us in the international spotlight and make Manitoba a great place to live, work, and visit.
